How ear muffs and ear plugs are rated
Hearing protection devices are tested according to the Australian Standard AS/NZS1270 2002 and are given a SLC80 dB rating. This rating is transferred to a classification system that groups hearing protection products in terms of the levels of protection they offer the user.
